16 Days Until Christmas – Cocktail Recipe – Orange and Cardamom Martinis

This cocktail is slightly more complicated than some of the other ones we have done in our Christmas Cocktail Countdown but not to worry we will explain how you can make this Christmas spice infused cocktail. This one is a fantastic cocktail to make for your party guests and will wow them with your newly acquired cocktail making skills!

Ingredients (Serves 6):da0308_bellini1

- 12 Cardamom Pods
- 6 Tablespoons of Orange marmalade and more to serve
- 400ml Vodka
- 125ml Cointreau
- 4 tablespoons of lemon juice
- Ice

Method:

Firstly grab your pestle and mortar if you have one (if not you can use any blunt object and to smash the Cardamom pods which you should wrap in a tea towel) and bash the cardamom pods until they split. To bash them for to long or two hard you just want to crack them. Then you need to melt the marmalade in a pan and whisk the Vodka in. Then add in the crushed cardamom pods and heat through but don’t boil the mixture as this will burn of the alcohol in the vodka (we don’t want that happening do we). Leave the mixture to infuse for about half an hour. You will then need to add the Cointreau and lemon juice and allow to chill completely. Serve in whatever glasses you think look best. You can also add a teaspoon more marmalade in the glasses and serve with some ice too.

- 250ml of double cream
- Cocoa for dusting, Cherry for garnish

Method:

Find some small cocktail, champagne or liqueur glasses and pour in the Tia Maria. Then carefully pour the double cream over the back of a teaspoon held over the glass of Tia Maria so it floats on the surface (it’s easy than it sounds) to make a separate layer.
