Mulled wine is a must at Christmas. This mulled wine recipe has a bit of a kick which you might not be used to in your normal Christmas mulled wine but we promise you’ll enjoy it. Perfect for those cold Winter evenings at home!
- 750ml of Red Wine (Merlot is good)
-1 large cinnamon stick
- 2 Star anise
- 4 cloves
- Zest of one lemon
- 4 tablespoons of caster sugar
- 100ml Slow Gin
Mix the cinnamon, Red wine, star anise, lemon zest, cloves and the sugar together in a pan. Heat the mixture together for 10 minutes and then remove it from the heat to cool slightly. It will take about half an hour for the flavours to infuse properly. When you are ready to serve your slow mulled wine simply heat the mixture again (but don’t boil), stir in the slow gin and pour into mugs. Extra cinnamon sticks make a great garnish.
